From Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station Line 1 Exit 1, go straight along the hill for 200m (across from Miliore). Do not use the stairs on the right to go upstairs.

  1. Dongdaemun Design Plaza

    • The DDP is a multi-cultural complex designed by Zaha Hadid, which hosts exhibitions and Seoul Fashion Week. Nearby, you'll find a lot of wholesale clothing and accessory stores.

  1. Bangsan, Jungbu Market

    • Bangsan Market: Packaging materials, flooring, wallpaper, promotional items, printing, paper, printed material, towels, etc.
    • Jungbu Market: Dried seafood market.
  2. Euljiro 3-ga

    • In recent years, Euljiro has become trendy with lots of cool cafes and restaurants. People call it 'Hipjiro' by combining 'hip' and 'Euljiro'.
  3. Euljiro 1-ga

    • About 500m from the bus stop is Deoksugung Palace, where King Gojong stayed and declared the Korean Empire during the Joseon Dynasty. Deoksugung's opening hours are Tuesday through Sunday, admission is 1,000 KRW (around 0.70 USD).

  1. Cheongwadae (Blue House) ⚠️ Admission ticket required

    • From 1948 to 2022, it was the president's office and residence. Now it's open to both Koreans and foreigners, but ticketing is a little different.

  1. Tong-in Market

    • A market with traditional food options.
  2. Gwanghwamun Square

  1. Seoul Station

  2. Namdaemun Market

    • A traditional market with lots of street food. Famous for its veggie hotteok.
  3. Namsan Ormi

    • An inclined elevator that takes you to the Namsan Cable Car station. It's free, and the round-trip fare for the Namsan Cable Car is 14,000 KRW (around 10 USD). The Namsan Tower observatory admission is 16,000 KRW (around 11 USD).
  4. Myeongdong

    • This is Seoul's central district with shops, restaurants, and nightlife.
    • When the Pope visited Korea, he visited the Myeongdong Cathedral in Myeongdong, which represents Korean Catholicism.

  1. Jonggak

    • When you get off at the bus stop, you'll see Bosingak (보신각). It has a large bell, and every year there is a special ringing ceremony to welcome the New Year.
    • Jogyesa Temple (조계사) is about 500m from the bus stop. It's not in the mountains, it's right in Seoul, so you can experience Korean Buddhism without leaving the city. You can also stay at the temple. If you're interested, check out more visit info in this post📌:

  1. Insadong

    • You'll find traditional craft shops, art galleries, tea houses, restaurants, cafes, and more.
    • There's the Museum Kimchikan. The adult admission fee is 5,000 KRW (around 4 USD), but the space is small, so I wouldn't recommend it. If you're curious about the kimchi Koreans eat with every meal, check out this post📌:
  1. Jongmyo

    • A UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site where tablets of Joseon kings and queens were kept, and ceremonies were held during the Joseon Dynasty.
  2. Gwangjang Market

    • There are pancakes (빈대떡 Bindaetteok), beef tartare (육회 Yukhoe), and twist donuts (꽈배기 Kkwabaegi) at this market. It was featured on Netflix's 'Street Food: Seoul'.

Traditional Culture Course Bus Schedule

  • It is closed every Tuesday.

  • ✅ First bus leaves Dongdaemun Design Plaza at 9:30 AM. Buses run every 40 minutes, but traffic can cause delays. I personally experienced delays on Saturdays, where three buses came almost simultaneously.

Seoul Cithy Tour Bus Night View Course

Night Tour Course runs nonstop along the Traditional Culture Course mentioned above, taking about an hour. Departure times vary by month. (Example: October: 7:00 PM / December, January, February: 6:30 PM / June: 7:30 PM)

January, February 2024: The Night View Course only runs on Saturdays and Sundays, departing at 6:30 PM.

  • ✅ You can reserve tickets online or buy them at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza.

  • ⚠️ Even if you booked online, you still need to pick up your ticket (wristband) at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza ticket office.

  • ⚠️ It's first-come, first-served seating, especially for the Night Course. If you want a good seat, I recommend coming early and waiting in line. Many people start lining up about 30 minutes before.

  • Closed on Tuesdays.

  • Food and beverages are not allowed on the bus.

  • Second-floor hatches may open differently from bus to bus.
